Speaker NA & Chairman NDMA briefed Media in Badin
Islamabad:
The Chairman
National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Dr. Zafar Qadir,
along with a NDMA-UN Assessment team & a Media delegation, is
currently visiting the flood hit areas of Sindh. Dr. Fehmida Mirza,
Speaker National Assembly, is also present in Badin. A briefing was
held in Badin to apprise representatives of the media about the
on-going rescue & relief activities in the affected areas. The head
of UN Mission Mr. Timo Pakkala was also present on the occasion.
Dr. Femida Mirza
briefed the Media about the efforts of the Federal government to
provide relief to the affected population. The Speaker National
Assembly told Media that provision of relief to the affected people
was the top priority of the government and every effort will be made
to achieve this goal.
The Chairman
NDMA, Dr. Zafar Qadir informed representatives of the Media about
flood consequent losses & inputs of NDMA for providing rescue &
relief to the people of the affected areas. He said that NDMA has
already provided substantial relief to the flood ravaged areas &
more relief was on the way which will soon reach the affectees. Dr.
Zafar Qadir assured that NDMA will do whatever it takes to mitigate
hardships of the affected population.
