PIPHRO FLOOD RESPONSE
The
destruction unleashed by the devastating floods in the history
of the country is beyond imagination and immense. Sindh is going
through unprecedented destruction as a result of the floods
after the monsoon rains. 19 district of Sindh have been
completely ruined by the flood in the province. According
Federal governments’ details more than 4 million people have
been rendered homeless in Sindh while Sindh government has been
saying umber of IDPs is more than 7 million. Besides, millions
of acres of crop land have been completely vanished by the
floods.
The total loss incurred by the province as per the provincial
government’s statistics has been put as 4 trillions which could
increase after detailed surveys.
Moreover,
the issue of utmost significance at the moment is of health of
the IDPs particularly immunization living inside camps and out
side camps. It indicates that immunization is very important and
be taken on priority basis by the government and NGOs. It is
estimated that more than thousands of babies are expected to be
born in the flood ht areas. One of the problems is of mal
nutrition and immunization of new born babies and IDPs including
out break of measles and polio in new born. Besides, there is
also the problem of shelter to the IDPs who are living under
open sky. The heat wave these days could also leave affects of
their health
